In June 2015, Monterey County announced that Lake San Antonio County Park will be closed beginning July 1, 2015.   It is unclear if and when the park would be reopened.  The extremely low lake level caused by the current drought has resulted in reduced park attendance.  Revenue from LSA park user fees has dropped sharply, creating a severe budget shortfall for the park.  The county has determined that it cannot afford to continue staffing and operating LSA at this time.
